This year marks a major milestone for us at Abbott Paint & Carpet — 80 years of serving the Twin Cities community with top-quality paint, flooring, and home improvement expertise.
What started as a small, family-owned paint store in 1945 has grown into a trusted local business with three locations, a full line of premium Benjamin Moore paints, private label, top-brand flooring solutions, and a reputation built on service, integrity, and hometown pride. As we celebrate this incredible anniversary, we’re reflecting on where we’ve been — and where we’re going.
A Family Business Since Day One
Abbott Paint & Carpet was founded with a simple but powerful philosophy: treat your customers like neighbors, and never compromise on quality. As second generation owners, with some third generation employees, that mission has stayed the same. We’ve remained family-owned and operated through changing trends, expanding product lines, and a growing Twin Cities metro — always staying true to our roots.
Being a family business means more than just working with our brothers — it means putting customers first, building relationships that last, and standing behind every product we sell. For 80 years, we’ve had the privilege of helping thousands of families turn houses into homes.
Proudly Serving the Twin Cities Since 1945
From our original location to now operating in St. Paul, White Bear Lake, and Stillwater, we’ve grown right alongside the communities we serve. We've helped new homeowners pick their first wall color, supported DIYers through weekend projects, and partnered with professional painters and designers on jobs big and small.
We’ve weathered changes in style, technology, and even economic shifts — and through it all, we’ve remained committed to one thing: delivering expert advice, quality products, and exceptional customer service you can trust.
A Thank You to Our Customers
We know we would not be here without you — our customers, neighbors, and friends. Your trust, loyalty, and word-of-mouth recommendations have fueled our business for eight decades. You’ve let us be part of your home projects, your remodels, and your renovations, and that’s something we never take for granted.
Looking Ahead
While the past 80 years have given us plenty to be proud of, we’re just getting started. We’re continuing to evolve with the needs of our customers — expanding our product offerings, embracing new design trends, and always looking for ways to serve you better.
What won’t change? Our commitment to quality, our family values, and our deep local roots.
